Terms of Service
Last updated: June 22, 2026
These Terms govern your use of gearhound.org and related services (the “Service”), operated by Emmanuel MacLaren-Yansouni (“Gearhound,” “we,” “us”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.
What Gearhound is
Gearhound is a deal-alert tool. You describe outdoor gear you want, and we monitor third-party retailer feeds and notify you when a matching deal appears. We do not sell gear and we are not a party to any purchase you make from a retailer.
No guarantee on prices or availability
Prices, discounts, stock, and product details come from third parties and can change or be wrong, out of date, or expired by the time you see them. We don’t guarantee the accuracy or availability of any deal. Always confirm the price and details on the retailer’s site before buying.
Affiliate disclosure
Some links to retailers are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission on qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you. This never affects the price you pay or which deals we surface to you.
Accounts
- You must be at least 16 and able to form a binding contract.
- Sign-in is by email magic link. You’re responsible for activity that happens through your email and account.
- Provide accurate information and keep your email access secure.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Scrape, resell, or redistribute our deal data or operate the Service for others.
- Abuse, overload, probe, or attempt to disrupt or reverse-engineer the Service.
- Use the Service unlawfully or to infringe others’ rights.
Subscriptions & billing
Gearhound offers a free tier and optional paid plans. Paid plans are billed in advance through Stripe on a recurring basis and renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel anytime from your account; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable. We may change pricing with notice; changes apply to the next billing period.
Third-party sites & merchants
When you click a deal you leave Gearhound and transact directly with a third-party retailer under their terms and policies. We are not responsible for their products, prices, fulfillment, returns, or conduct.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don’t warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any deal information is accurate or current.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Gearhound will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any lost savings, profits, or missed deals. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or USD $50.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Gearhound harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms.
Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account anytime. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be noted by updating the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, additional notice. Continued use means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law
